Project Puppet’s Contest Entries

November 23rd, 2009

I’m glad to announce that Puppeteers Unite is posting enteries from the last Project Puppet’s 2009 Puppet Building Contest!

Our first puppet is by Tara Hynes - Ozone the Frog, born in South Louisiana in a murky pond with his 300 other tadpole brother and sisters. He knew from an early age that he and he alone was destined for greatness. He set out on his own when he was just able to hop away to find his life of greatness. He landed in my back yard with hopes and dreams to change the world. As a frog he knows that climate change is happening and wants to help spread the word about it. He hopes that with his good looks and piercing eyes he can help you to decide to reduce, reuse, and recycle so he and all the frogs of the world can go on to live happy lives.

I love the position of the legs on Ozone, they add a sense of realism to the characters stance. The choice of colour perfectly matches that of a Red Eyed Tree Frog! I don’t know if this is the inspiration for her character but nicely done! :-)

Ozone was created using the glorified sock puppet pattern with a few modifications.
